Нет, я конечно не использовал WWF в своих приложениях (более того, я бы не стал утверждать, что это прям супер-пупер современные технологии). У нас в проекте используется OpenSource (я знаю как фанаты МС любят это слово ) BPEL-движок ActiveBPEL 3.1 (версия старенькая, но нам хватает).

Я бы отметил следующие плюсы данной системы:
- система представляет собой отдельное веб-приложение, которое выставляет набор веб-сервисов. Соответственно взаимодействовать с ним можно из любого другого приложения, реализующего механизм обращения к этим веб-сервисам.
- само приложение позволяет вызывать сторонние веб-сервисы, что собственно является основной грамотной WorkFlow-машины, построенной на базе BPEL.
- Имеется интерфейс пользователя для настройки приложения (в частности - прописывание URL машин, на которых работают используемые в BPEL-процессе веб-сервисы).
- Имеется удобный плагин для Eclipse, позволяющий рисовать BPEL-процессы. Примерно то же самое, что и в МС-овской студии.

Согласен насчет религиозности. Вопрос кому что нравится. Точнее, что нравиться лиду, то и будет использовано в проекте, а что нравится тебе - к тому лиду ты и пойдешь.

Правда, здесь важна еще и маркетинговая составляющая. Все же J2EE более устоявшаяся и известная (среди людей с деньгами, как у нас так и на западе, не среди студентов каф. ЭВМ) технология.

I dont know what to say.  This blog is fantastic.  Thats not really a really huge statement, but its all I could come up with after reading this.  You know so much about this subject.  So much so that you made me want to learn more about it.  Your blog is my stepping stone, my friend.  Thanks for the heads up on this subject.
